Litter, fly-tipping and dog fouling aren’t the only problems which impact on our communities. There are a range of other issues that have a harmful impact on people and the environment.
Issues like vandalism, graffiti and fly-posting are all intentional acts of damage in the outdoor environment. As well as their negative visual impact, they can attract more anti-social behaviour and make us feel unsafe in our communities.
In small amounts, weeds and natural materials like soil, mud and broken-down leaf fall can support our wildlife. But if weeds are left to grow, they impact on the visibility we have of areas around us, can become an obstruction and can also trap litter. When natural materials accumulate, they make places look neglected, are a slip hazard to pedestrians and can block drains which can lead to localised flooding.
