#LoveWhereYouLive: 21 March to 6 April

Spring Clean Cymru is back in 2025! We want to inspire thousands of litter heroes across Wales to come together to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets, green spaces and beaches.

This year, the message is simple. Show you ‘love where you live’ by pledging to pick up as much litter as you can between 21 March and 6 April. Whether you aim to pick up one bag or 100, you can pledge to litter pick as an individual, group, organisation or school. Just fill out the form below!

Want to join an organised clean-up instead? No problem – head to our map for details of open events that are being by our team, community groups and other organisations.

We’ve got an exciting addition to this year’s Spring Clean Cymru.

We’re launching on Friday 21 March with a World Record Attempt, and we’d love you to be a part of it!

We’re joining forces with environmentalist Kate Strong and freshwater health expert Dr Numair Masud to set a new Guinness World Record for Most Participants in a River Clean-up (at Multiple Locations)

Join us at any one of our three locations along the River Taff:

  • Merthyr Vale in Merthyr Tydfil
  • Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in Pontypridd
  • Taff Embankment in Cardiff

If you’d like to join us at the World Record attempt, then please register on Kate’s ‘Taff Tidy’ website.

Join the Great Big School Clean

Calling all schools! Help your pupils love where they live – join the Great Big School Clean!

At Keep Wales Tidy, we firmly believe no one is too small to make a big difference. That’s why we’re encouraging schools to get involved in the Great Big School Clean during Spring Clean Cymru.

You can hold a clean-up (or several clean-ups) anytime between 21 March and 6 April, collecting as much litter as you can.

There are even special Great Big School Clean resources, ideas and activities for anyone taking part.

Why Spring Clean?

We know that small acts on your doorstep make a big difference. And that impact is multiplied when we come together to take the same action at the same time. That’s why Spring Clean Cymru is part of the Great British Spring Clean, which is run in England and Scotland by our friends at Keep Britain Tidy and Keep Scotland Beautiful.

In 2024, #LitterHeroes in Wales, England and Scotland pledged to pick a staggering 425,626 bags of litter.

But why does it matter?

  • Each year, Wales spends around £70 million clearing up litter – that’s money that could be spent on public services like social care and education.
  • Litter harms marine and local wildlife. RSPCA Cymru receive an average of 14 calls a day about animals affected by litter, with calls spiking in the summer months.
  • Research shows that people feel less safe when an area looks littered and uncared for.
