Transform an unloved area into a garden that will benefit both nature and your community.

We want to develop or restore ‘spaces for nature’, creating a wild garden filled with pollinator-friendly plants and a variety of other wildlife habitats.

But our aim is to improve people’ health and well-being of our communities too. We want to bring communities together, get more people involved in volunteering and connect them with nature.

The package will include:

  • 20 square metres of wildflower turf
  • Five native fruit trees
  • Wildlife friendly tree pack (100 small trees, guards, canes and mulch mat)
  • Nine potted shrubs
  • Three climbing plants (two litre)
  • 10 aquatic plants and eight aquatic baskets
  • Pond liner and sand (800kg)
  • 150 wildflower plug plants
  • 320 native species bulbs
  • Three raised bed made of wooden sleepers and trellis
  • Topsoil, compost and soil membrane
  • Trellis and fixings
  • Gloves
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Watering can
  • Two heavy duty, recycled plastic bench
  • Metal tool store
  • Six habitat boxes, four bird feeders and seed
  • Variety of hand tools to install and maintain garden
  • Books and ID charts, including pond specific guidance
  • Compost bin

Minimum area required for this package is 240 square metres.

You can now apply for Local Places for Nature online. Register your details to set up an account. Then login, choose the package you’d like, and complete the six steps. Just make sure to answer every question and upload all the required photos and written evidence.
