Climate Change and Sustainability Education in ALN and Alternative Provision

Too many learners with Additional Learning Needs are missing out on climate and sustainability education.

Together with Swansea University, we’ve identified urgent gaps in resources, training and support for Climate Change and Sustainability Education (CCSE) in ALN and alternative provision settings.

Our collaborative report provides a roadmap for strengthening CCSE delivery, with recommendations focused on:

  • Developing targeted, accessible resources
  • Providing specialised training and professional support
  • Building stronger collaborative networks across education and environmental sectors

Putting these recommendations into practice can help ensure that all learners in Wales, regardless of their educational needs or setting, can access high-quality climate and sustainability education, equipping them with the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to Wales’s environmental future.
