Keep Wales Tidy is the charity committed to working with local communities across Wales to protect our environment now and for the future.
Practically, we know that a good quality environment matters to people and that the benefits can make a real difference to our health, well-being, communities and to our economy. And crucially, it is great for nature too.
Our vision as a charity is for a beautiful Wales cared for and enjoyed by everyone.
Beautiful Wales outlines how we will continue to work with Welsh Government, public bodies, partner organisations, community groups and our army of volunteers to deliver a country that we are all proud to call beautiful.
The strategy is a simple one which promises to eradicate litter and waste, set standards for environmental excellence, create and restore green spaces and empower youth on environmental issues. Have a look for yourself at the plan.
Keep Wales Tidy’s origins can be traced back to the 1950s, when post-war pride in the UK led the way in tackling the ever increasing problem of litter. The Women’s Institutes responded by creating the Keep Britain Tidy group.
Fast forward to 1972, when the Keep Wales Tidy campaign was launched.
It began life as the Welsh Directorate of the Tidy Group until devolution began and in 2005 Keep Wales Tidy became an independent charitable organisation.
We’re proud to be a member of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Active across the world, FEE programmes help communities to realise the benefits of sustainable living through education and active learning.
We deliver four FEE programmes in Wales:
Unlocking sustainability in the tourism industry.
A world-renowned eco-label trusted by millions around the globe for beaches, marinas and boats.
Environmental education for now and for the future.
Empowering young people to tell stories about their environment.
