Responsible and safe disposal
We help businesses, schools and other organisations dispose of their unwanted IT and electrical equipment responsibly.
We work with A&LH Environmental Services Ltd to make sure that items, wherever possible, are recycled and don’t end up in landfill. Together, we provide a safe, secure, affordable electrical recycling service.

Our schemes
Keep Wales tidy offers two different schemes designed to help you to safely and responsibly dispose of your waste. Find out more below.
WEEE collections
We can arrange a Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) collection from organisations anywhere in Wales, and with disposal handled by our trusted partners, you can rest easy that you’re complying with Welsh Government guidelines.
We accept:
- Routers; servers; desktop computers; tablets; laptops; monitors
- projectors; TVs; white goods; fluorescent bulbs; school whiteboards
- some medical equipment
We can’t accept:
- Furniture; batteries that you find in your home; printer cartridges
To arrange a collection, please contact recycling@keepwalestidy.cymru with the following information:
- A description of items that you’d like collected (and the weight if you have it)
- Your location (and if there are stairs or a lift in your building)
- Your contact details
Project Reboot
Looking to clear out your old tech for free? Our new Project Reboot initiative aims to help dispose of electrical items that are no longer wanted but can be broken down or refurbished.
We are currently offering free Project Reboot collections in the following areas:
- Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan.
We can collect from other locations, but there may be a charge, with the cost depending on location and number of items.
We accept:
- Laptops; back-up devices; desktop PPC; combi PC; hard drives; tablets; laptops; monitors; tablets
- Mobile phones; telephone equipment; printers; servers; switches/routers; keyboards; mice; cables;
- POS (point of sale)
We can’t accept:
- Household white goods; Fluorescent tubes; Tft/LCD monitors; Televisions; CRT monitors; toners;
- Medical testing equipment
- Batteries; UPS;
Keep Wales Tidy will receive a donation equivalent to 50% of any profit made from the recycling and reuse of your items. The remaining 50% is retained by our waste partners to cover the cost of their time in re-processing and selling the items.

Project Reboot FAQs
- Nothing, as long as you have more than 30 accepted items (info pack attached).
- If you have less than 30 accepted items there will be a £50 collection charge.
- If you have any unaccepted (WEEE) items, we will charge you for their disposal at our usual WEEE prices (price list attached).
- See our acceptable items above.
- We can also collect other electrical items (both unaccepted, and those that are not on this list), but there will be a charge.
- We can collect company-owned items, as well as personal items that staff bring in and ‘donate’ to Keep Wales Tidy.

- You can pre-book a collection date when you are planning your amnesty, OR
- When you are ready for a collection simply email recycling@keepwalestidy.cymru and we will send you a collection date/time.
- We aim to collect your items within 2 weeks of a request being made.
- They are collected by our recycling partner, A&LH Environmental Services Ltd, and taken back to their processing plant in Barry (South Wales) where they are manually segregated and assessed for re-use/recycling.
- Our priority is to upgrade and reuse as many items as possible.
- The expert staff at A&LH Environmental Services Ltd will securely wipe all data and then upgrade equipment as necessary e.g. install new hard drive, operating system). The kit is then re-sold.
- If the asset specification is not sufficient for reuse/upgrade, it will be broken down for recycling.
- All data contained on hard drives for recycling will be degaussed and crushed using a Proton T-1.5 drawer degausser and an eDR hard disk crusher.
- All data contained on hard drives for re-use will be overwritten using recognised data overwriting software and you will receive a certificate of destruction per load as proof.
- Data is overwritten using Global Erasure software by Global Lifecycle solutions EMEA.
- If data cannot be removed, then the hard drive will be degaussed and crushed.
- All items are stripped of all company identification (e.g. asset tags).
- We are currently only offering free Project Reboot collections in the following counties: Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan.

- You will receive a breakdown of all items disposed of by type, weight and if they were reused or recycled.
- You will also receive a certificate of data destruction.
- You will receive relevant WEEE certification (duty of care waste transfer note and hazardous waste consignment note) for all items (if applicable).
- We can provide a certificate upon request showing the amount raised for Keep Wales Tidy which may be very useful for your Corporate Social Responsibility reporting.
- You will receive all reports and certificates within 3 weeks of your collection date.
