A Litter Free Zone is a designated area that a business, school or organisation pledges to keep clean through regular litter picks.
Zones can be any size. Some organisations adopt small areas outside their premises, while others take on larger green spaces, footpaths, or industrial estates.
Businesses can also join forces and commit to looking after a larger area together.
We’ll help you choose an area that suits your capacity.
Most organisation carry out a litter pick once a month, but you’re welcome to do more if you can. What matters most is consistency.
By becoming a Litter Free Zone, you’re agreeing to record your activities using our easy to use eCount Cymru system.
It only takes a few minutes to submit a report, but every entry makes a big difference. Your data helps us build a clearer picture of the challenges our communities face and highlights the incredible impact volunteers are making across Wales.
If you already have litter picking equipment, that’s great. If not, you can always borrow free kit from your nearest Litter Picking Hub.
We also have a range of affordable equipment available to buy in our shop.
