Our resources have been developed in collaboration with early years practitioners and are shaped around six themes – Tidy Team, Wonderful Wildlife, Power Protectors, Terrific Trees, Reduce and Reuse, and Starting from Seed.
Each theme offers a range of fun, practical activities that will help spark curiosity and help young children build a connection with the natural world and our environment.
To support understanding in an accessible way, every theme includes its own original song, alongside our core activity ideas, practitioner information, and recommended partner resources.
Resources can be filtered by theme and by learning age.
Even little hands can make a big difference in keeping our communities tidy and safe!
Litter isn’t just an eyesore; it’s a problem for our local wildlife, who might mistake rubbish for food or a place to hide. By learning the importance of putting litter in the bin and caring for our wonderful Wales, our Eco-Tots can become guardians of the Earth. Together, our Tidy Team is learning that a cleaner community means a happier, healthier planet for everyone.

From the scurrying squirrels in a local park to the hidden world beneath a garden log, Wales’ Wonderful Wildlife is right on our doorstep.
Engaging with nature from a young age isn’t just about fun; it’s about sparking a lifelong connection with our environment.
Every species plays a unique part in nature and supporting our ecosystem, from pollinating plants and flowers, breaking down old leaves and plants to create healthy soils, to spreading seeds to help grow new trees and plants.
By learning about the incredible jobs that different insects and animals do, we can help children develop a love and respect for them and help them to thrive.

Become a Power Protector and discover the invisible magic that keeps our world moving! For our youngest learners, understanding energy starts with a simple question: “what makes it go?”. From the lights in our ceilings to the buses on our Welsh streets, we use energy every single day.
Fun, engaging activities can help us explore how we travel and why turning off a dripping tap saves more than just water. By looking at the power we use, we can take our first steps in understanding climate change. Together, we’re learning that by using energy wisely, we keep our planet cool and happy!

Trees are amazing! Beyond providing us with wood to build houses, furniture, and other items, they play a vital role in our local environment and even generate the oxygen we breathe.
In the UK, we have more than 60 native tree species, with each one providing an essential habitat for an enormous range of wildlife – from bats, birds and squirrels to all sorts of tiny minibeasts.
Terrific Trees are also fantastic to explore and investigate, either through climbing their mighty branches or investigating their bumpy bark, listening to the sounds of the leaves in the wind or just giving them a big hug. They offer a wonderful, fun way to engage with nature.

Every little thing we use, from our favourite plastic toys to the cardboard box our cereal comes in, starts its journey somewhere on our planet. And for every new thing that we buy, it has to end up somewhere when we have finished with it, which can cause a big challenge for our environment.
Instead of the “make, use, and throw away” habit, our Reduce and Reuse theme focuses on using less and reusing what we have so that we make things last as long as possible and reduce what we put in our bins, whilst having fun along the way.

Every big adventure starts with something small, and nothing is more magical than Starting from Seed. Whether it’s a tiny cress seed or a chunky bean, these little packages are bursting with life! By getting their hands in the soil, children discover the wonder of how a dry, quiet seed transforms into a leafy green plant.
We don’t need a field or big allotment to grow our own food. Even a small garden, planter, or windowsill can help young children see how simple it is. Understanding where a crunchy carrot or a juicy tomato comes from connects children to the earth and makes healthy eating a tasty discovery.
