Uniting for Environmental Impact Award

This award celebrates the power of environmental initiatives to connect diverse people and cultures across Wales.

It recognises outstanding projects that foster inclusivity, collaboration, and a collective responsibility for our natural world; showcasing how environmental action can build stronger, more united communities.

About the award

Judges will be looking for projects that involve individuals of different ages, ethnicities, and abilities, honouring those who have been instrumental in bringing Welsh communities together to tackle environmental challenges.  This award highlights efforts that not only improve the environment but also promote understanding, respect, and a shared sense of belonging.

Nominations could include:

  • An intergenerational green space, bringing together older and younger residents to share their gardening knowledge.
  • A food growing project involving refugees, asylum seekers and long-term residents, creating opportunities for social integration and skills development.
  • An initiative encouraging volunteers from different cultural backgrounds to share their traditional ecological knowledge and work together to restore local habitats.
  • An art or music project that engages people from different backgrounds in creative expression while raising awareness of environmental issues.
  • A sensory garden that has been created or adapted to be accessible and engaging for people with diverse disabilities.
