We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Finance Team

Keep Wales Tidy is currently recruiting for a Finance Officer to work within our busy Finance Team.

The role is home-based, with the ideal candidate being located in the South Wales area and is a permanent position subject to continuing funding of the charity.

The role will be accountable to the Finance Manager to deliver financial tasks and activities.

The environmental third sector is recognised to be lacking in representation of more diverse groups and less engaged communities. As we actively seek to address this, we need a diverse team of people who share our passion and have the energy and skills to help us achieve our aim to be representative of all the communities we work in.

Job specification

The Finance Officer will be responsible for a range of financial tasks and activities to include inputting data and recording of financial transactions.

They will join a small supportive team, having a close working relationship with the Finance Manager and the other team members. They will provide an excellent service to both internal and external contacts, as well as building good relationships with all stakeholders.

Working hours are 35 hours per week across Monday  to Friday, with the opportunity to work these on a flexible basis.

Key tasks

  • Processing purchase order requests in the accounting system, checking coding is correct.
  • Receiving and recording supplier invoices and processing them within the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and matching them to purchase orders.
  • Setting up payments ready for approval in banking apps.
  • Processing expense claims transactions.
  • Verifying, checking supporting documentation for, and seeking approval of, staff and other stakeholder or meeting participants’ expenses claims.
  • Resolving coding allocation issues.
  • Receiving and monitoring requests for issuing sales invoices.
  • Raising, recording, and sending out sales invoices and processing these transactions within the accounting system.
  • Assisting bank reconciliation tasks.
  • Providing support or leading on financial department-based tasks.
  • Monitoring staff time sheets in preparation for internal recharges.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks as requested by Keep Wales Tidy management.

Personal specification

To enable you to do the job, you will need to have at least two years’ experience working across a financial or accounting environment, with demonstrable experience of using Excel.

Ideally with experience of computerised financial ledger systems, particularly Sage Line 50.

Alongside this you will need to show that you have a commitment to environmental and sustainable development and have a passion for working in this sector.

There are some skills that you will need to demonstrate that you have:

  • The ability to prioritise, plan and manage a varied workload to meet demanding deadlines.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with staff, management, key individuals and organisations at all levels.
  • Have a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be a flexible team player with a collaborative working ethos who recognises the benefits of partnership working.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, as required.
  • Have an innovative approach and be prepared to try out new methods and ideas.
  • Be highly motivated with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Be willing to undertake minimal travel across Wales as required.

As well as the above you will take responsibility for managing yourself to:

  • Always work in line with Keep Wales Tidy’s values and policies.
  • Strive to achieve the best value for the organisation, at all times.
  • Work within agreed budgets.
  • Undertake such internal / external training as is required to meet the demands of the post, the needs of the Company, and for self- improvement.
  • Deliver work to agreed deadlines and standards.

It would be great if you could communicate through the medium of Welsh, but this is desirable, not essential.

You’ll also need to be prepared to travel away from home when needed.
