Want to help preserve local history? Join us for a free, one-hour online training session exploring how you can get involved in digitising the Urban Long Forest project.
The session will introduce you to how we can record and preserve information about the project across Cardiff, Caerphilly, Neath Port Talbot and Wrexham.
We’ll be focusing on documenting urban hedgerows, local styles and volunteers’ experiences, helping to capture their stories and make them accessible for generations to come.
What will the session cover?
The training is delivered by People’s Collection Wales, who provide free, tailored support throughout the archival process. You’ll get an introduction to:
- Digitising and recording local heritage
- Capturing information about the Urban Long Forest project
- Documenting photographs, stories and volunteers’ experiences
- The basics of preserving digital records for the future
No previous experience is needed, just an interest in heritage, nature, local history or learning new skills.
The session will take place online via Microsoft Teams. Book your place to receive the link and join us.
The session will be delivered in English, but if you have any questions in Welsh, please feel free to send them to us in advance.
About Urban Long Forest
The Urban Long Forest project is protecting, restoring and celebrating hedgerows and ancient and veteran trees in urban communities across Wales. By bringing nature closer to where people live, the project is helping to strengthen local green spaces, support biodiversity, improve wellbeing and inspire community pride. Activities are taking place across Cardiff, Caerphilly, Neath Port Talbot and Wrexham.
Made possible thanks to support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players, the project is delivered in partnership with Coed Cadw, Adult Learning Wales, Llais y Goedwig and local authorities.
