Organise a Project Reboot collection with Keep Wales Tidy

Share

From April 2026, all workplaces in Wales – including businesses, public sector organisations, charities and schools – will be required to separate recyclable materials, including small waste electrical and electronic equipment (sWEEE), and ensure they are collected for recycling. These changes are designed to reduce waste, prevent pollution and keep valuable materials in use for longer.

Electrical items such as laptops, keyboards, printers, phones and cables can no longer be treated as general waste. Organisations must take responsibility for storing, handling and disposing of sWEEE correctly.

Keep Wales Tidy offer cost effective electrical recycling solutions, which allow you to donate to us to support our vital work at the same time.

A simple solution: organise a Project Reboot collection

At Keep Wales Tidy, we can help make it easy for organisations to meet these new requirements by hosting an electrical goods amnesty on your site.

Our electrical recycling scheme – delivered in partnership with A&LH Environmental Ltd – is recognised as an example of good practice by Climate Action Wales, a Welsh Government initiative.

Project Reboot gives your organisation and its staff the chance to:

  • Clear out unwanted or obsolete IT and electrical equipment.
  • Recycle WEEE legally and sustainably.
  • Ensure all data is securely destroyed.
  • Support reuse and the circular economy.
  • Raise funds for Keep Wales Tidy’s environmental work across Wales.

What happens to your electrical items?

All items are collected by our recycling partner A&LH Environmental Ltd and taken to their processing facility in Barry, South Wales.

Each item is manually assessed to determine whether it can be reused, upgraded or recycled:

  • Wherever possible, equipment is upgraded and reused.
  • All data is securely wiped before reuse.
  • Items that cannot be reused are broken down for recycling.

This approach maximises environmental benefits and reduces the amount of electrical waste sent for disposal.

Costs and collections

  • Free collections are available if you have 30 or more accepted items.
  • If you have fewer than 30 accepted items, a £50 collection charge applies.
  • Unaccepted items can still be collected, but disposal charges will apply.

Free amnesties are currently available across South Wales. Collections elsewhere in Wales may be possible, depending on location and number of items.

Reporting, certification and CSR benefits

After your amnesty, you will receive:

  • A full breakdown of items by type, weight and reuse/recycling outcome
  • Certificates of reuse, recycling and data destruction
  • Relevant WEEE duty of care documentation
  • Optional certification showing funds raised for Keep Wales Tidy – ideal for CSR and sustainability reporting
