Climate Challenge Cymru returns for 2026!

Share

We’re thrilled to announce the return of Climate Challenge Cymru, an exciting nationwide innovation challenge for schools across Wales, inspired by The Earthshot Prize.

Learners aged 5–18 are invited to take part by creating short, original videos that showcase their most imaginative and practical ideas to help tackle one of five global challenges, or ‘Earthshots’: Build a Waste-Free World, Clean Our Air, Fix Our Climate, Protect and Restore Nature, and Revive Our Oceans.

A growing national movement

After the incredible success of this year’s competition, Climate Challenge Cymru 2026 continues to empower young people to explore environmental issues and share solutions that can make a real difference, in their schools, communities, and beyond.

Delivered by Eco-Schools Wales at Keep Wales Tidy, in partnership with the Welsh Government and The Earthshot Prize, the competition provides a unique opportunity for learners to combine creativity, teamwork, and sustainability education.

Celebrating innovation and impact

Finalists in each Earthshot category will be invited to a special awards ceremony in summer 2026, where their ideas will be celebrated and shared with schools across Wales.

I’m absolutely thrilled that Climate Challenge Cymru will be returning in 2026. This year, we were blown away by the creativity and determination of young people across Wales, and I can’t wait to see how they build on that success. The challenge gives learners the chance to turn their ideas into action and share their solutions on a national stage. At Keep Wales Tidy, through the Eco-Schools programme, we’re proud to play a small supporting role as they lead the way towards a more sustainable future.
