Keep Wales Tidy named ‘Green Business of the Year’

We took top honours at the Cardiff Business Awards 2022 at Cardiff City Hall.

We were up against incredibly strong competition from the other nominees, Creative Spaces Design, Fleet-E and Think Air for the coveted ‘Green Business of the Year’ award sponsored by Genesis Biosciences.

2022 marks Keep Wales Tidy’s 50th Anniversary and being named ‘Green Business of the Year’ is testament to the great work of Keep Wales Tidy staff, volunteers and partners in enhancing and protecting the Welsh environment. Over the past 50 years we have expanded and enhanced the work that we do, from being litter collectors created to 'Keep Wales Tidy' back in 1972, to becoming an organisation which now supports the most vulnerable people across Wales to improve their local environment for social, well-being, health and economic benefits. It’s wonderful to see our work being recognised and celebrated on our 50th year at such a prestigious event.

Owen Derbyshire
Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive

In early 2022, we launched an ambitious strategy for the decade which promises to continue working for the protection and promotion of Wales’ natural environment.

Providing spaces that feel safe, clean and green for all the communities of Wales and for future generations by:

  • eradicating litter and waste
  • setting standards for environmental quality
  • creating and restoring green spaces
  • empowering young people by giving them the knowledge and understanding to drive positive environmental change

Our communities play a key part in delivering this work. Our community volunteers, partner organisations and funding partners are all important elements in our ability to deliver our vision of a beautiful Wales valued, cared for and enjoyed by everybody.

This year's Cardiff Business Awards has demonstrated the range of high-quality companies which make up the business community in our capital city and the importance they continue to attach to sustainable growth and innovation. On behalf of Cardiff Council, I would like to congratulate the winning companies and thank them for the contribution they make to the economy and our communities, and I wish them every success in the future.

Cllr Huw Thomas
Leader of Cardiff Council
