4 Welsh parks make UK Top 10

Gardd Enfys in Ceredigion, Swansea University Singleton Campus, Gnoll Country Park and Margam Country Park – both in Neath Port Talbot – have all secured places in the UK People’s Choice Top 10 of all 2,250 Green Flag–awarded sites across the UK.

The announcement was made at a UK-wide virtual awards ceremony on 20 November, following confirmation in July that all four sites had once again achieved Green Flag status.

More than 35,864 votes were cast by members of the public in this year’s People’s Choice awards.

This marks the twelfth appearance in the Top 10 for Margam Country Park, Neath Port Talbot, and the second for Gardd Enfys, Ceredigion. Gnoll Country Park and Swansea University Singleton Campus, however, are celebrating their first ever inclusion.

These four green spaces were chosen by the public from among the UK’s 2,250 Green Flag sites.

There was additional success for Wales in the Best of the Best Awards: Gnoll Country Park was recognised for Best Biodiversity / Habitat Creation Project and Ethan Dando of the Llanharan Community Development Project was named Young Volunteer of the Year.

Wales has historically performed strongly at these autumn awards, consistently securing multiple places in the UK Top 10 and receiving many Best of the Best accolades.

This year’s achievements follow another record-breaking year for Wales in the Green Flag Awards, surpassing the nation’s own 2024 record for the highest number of Green Flag Community Awards held by any country worldwide.

In 2024, Wales proudly celebrated 119 Community sites receiving a Green Flag, a milestone surpassed again in July 2025 with 223 community sites achieving the award.

We’re incredibly proud to see four much-loved Welsh green spaces recognised in the UK People’s Choice Top 10. It’s fantastic to see long-standing favourites like Margam Country Park and Gardd Enfys celebrated once again, while Gnoll Country Park and Swansea University’s Singleton Campus make their well-deserved debut. These results show just how much our communities value high-quality green spaces, and the strong public turnout demonstrates the pride people feel for the places on their doorstep. Wales continues to perform exceptionally well at the Green Flag Awards, with national recognition for our sites and volunteers. This success reflects the dedication of the individuals and groups who work tirelessly to protect and enhance our environment.
